If you were to ask the majority of Warbird members what their favorite aircraft would be, I am guessing that the North American T-28 Trojan would be up on top of the list. There are four models... the "A" which was the first (USAF) then theU.S. Navy "B" model which was also a trainer. These were followed by the"C" which was equipped with a tailhook and was used for carrier qualifications by the U.S.Navy, and the last was the "D" model which was made for the CIA and given to countries as a counter insurgency aircraft. Generally a 200 knot aircraft at cruise, and will burn anywhere from 45 to 65 gallons per hour, depending on your power settings. Horsepower is generally from a Wright 1820-86B, 9 cylinder round engine. Two place(tandem) trainer and they do burn alittle oil....what makes it so attractive is the sound of nine huge cylinders, arranged in a circle, making a lot of noise, and burning a fair amount of fuel.....When a T-28 roars overhead, you immediately know what it is....
